I recovered one SP20 wad from a pheasant this year that actually broke at the cushion and flipped around after exiting the barrel. It flew like a shuttle cock into the bird, like a slug. The cup of the wad had about 30 #5 in the wad at 25 yd where the pheasant was killed.

A change in hulls or wads makes a huge difference. I've tried some of the published loads but didn't have great results. Finally tried Rem plastic hulls (STS), SP20 wads and longshot. Perfect everytime now. Note: I liked the 1oz wads but if you have trouble and need more room in the hull, you may have to use 7/8 oz load.
The latest "in thing" in 20 ga is to load 3/4 oz loads. Clay buster has a wad made for this and it helps reduce the cost of reloading. There are a lot of posts on 3/4 oz loads, so search before going into that. I noticed that, and should be more than enough for informal clay shooting.Shotgun World General Forums. SP20's are good substitutes for the WW20F1 but are expensive if you shoot a lot. Try the Windjammer 20. Although the factory lists them as a 7/8oz. wad they work well with 1oz. if you use a low dense, sitting powder like HS6. The Duster orange 20 is a 7/8oz. wad, period. It sits high with about any brand/type powder.

Its main purpose is to ease feeding of the wad on some reloading machines. For reload recipe purposes, it is the same wad.Specifications. Gauge. 12 Gauge. Quantity. 250. Made in the USA. Yes.
