The biggest difference between AN and either grade 5 or 8 is that AN bolts have superior corrosion resistance and shorter grip lengths. There are very few places on a gyro I can think of where the bolt strength would ever be an issue. The bolts holding the rotorblades on RAF hub bars is one of the few I can think of.Forums. General.
