Jeep jk running hot.

On hot days (temps in 90's plus), my Jeep would overheat while driving regardless of speed. Higher speeds didn't help cool it off. In older vehicles that had questionable cooling fans, you could just drive 50-60 and the airflow through radiator was enough to keep your engine happy. Not so in the JK. I recently got to 240 (with a couple seconds at 244) while towing a heavy trailer uphill on the interstate in 89F weather - 4000 rpm in 3rd at 55 mph. The purpose of a thermostat is to let the car get up to operating temperature and then open up to not let it get any hotter. It is the optimal temperature for the car. If you run without a thermostat it would not let the car get up to operating temperature for a long while.

Started to overheat after a trip to an ORV park but I washed the radiator out and its pretty clean on the outside. Also drained and refilled the system completely.

With that said the JKs do run a but hot (210-226) in my case depending on ambient and load. @Youssefsaafan One other thing you may want to consider is if you are running the most up to date software. Jeep made a change to the fan settings and the gauge read out at some point from what I understand.

Test the O2 sensors, they can get old and slow to react. Typical O2 sensor service life is about 100,000-150,000 miles.
