If you start off with a good quality, reliable 1911 to begin with, like a Dan Wesson, Night Hawk Custom or Wilson Combat, then the size is dictated only by personal preference. Weight means nothing to me. Outside of a quality 1911, the only preference that I have is the shorter Commander length barrel.
