Nov 13, 2017 · In terms of thermal performance, the 5-year-old 120mm EVGA FTW3 Hybrid 1080Ti easily destroys 360mm Gigabyte Xtreme Waterforce 4090. Both are at the same noise level with default fan curves. And EVGA even has 9 more sensors in each part of the PCB to detect even lower temperature than the Gigabyte.

My Founder's Edition 4090 seems to hit a limit above +1000 which works out to 1450-1475 mhz tops in Port Royal. I can also pass with +1200 but don't feel it's stable in most games. +1300 or +1400 results in almost instant artifacts. In your answer please include the card vendor (Nvidia FE, Asus, MSI, etc.). Hey gang, Didn't need to, but heck, joined the 4090 club (FE card). OC-wise, I'm getting core speeds up to 3000-3015 Mhz stable (+180 offset, 1.1V) and +1750Mhz on the VRAM without artifacting. From what I read here, my chip is sort of average in terms of core OC capability, and I'm in the higher tier for the VRAM.

The only viable conclusion here is that Nvidia is keeping the binned GPU dies that can take 1.15 or 1.2 volts, and then allowing them to be clocked higher for the RTX 4090 Ti. The 4090 is artificially locked; water cooling is, IMO, a waste for this GPU.
