Trying to build a Fairie Ranger - Horizon Walker, subclass Rogue - Arcane trickster. Thinking of going up to Lvl 4-5 ranger, taking magic initiate, then start putting lvls in rogue to get to arcane trickter. You can probably make a great Sword and Board Ranger for your Melee build if you want to. Heavy Crossbow would require Corssbow Expert to take the most of, so you should try a Longbow instead. Hello, I recently started a Rogue/Ranger Horizon walker build. while everything may not translate perfectly I'll give my best advice. Paralyzing arrows is to unreliable to use and even if you try to build towards it with Enchantment DCs it won't make to much a difference at higher levels.

Horizon Walkers are largely unchanged. I would still either play a midranged sharpshooting longbow build that teleports effortlessly out of melee range, or a skirmishing GWM melee Bamfing build. Neither are bad builds, but Tasha’s made the ranger chassis itself feel way better, so Horizon Walker would also be better.
