From someone who has carried 5 people Entry mode: Yes the raid is scaled up a notch. However, you don't need any gear upgrades for duoing entry mode. I've done carrying just fine with Tentacle whip, Karils, and Fury. THE ONLY THING to note in duos is to stand on the other sides of Verzik p2.
