Its because you would have got to w5 much faster than intended, you need to remember there was nearly a year between w4 being added and than w5. So we all had ages to work on w4 skills and progression, saying that breeding is a very slow skills. You can do Colosseum and kill the mushroom mini boss for more eggs.

I believe are the numbers but not 100% sure. If it were longer the game would likely crash. The timer will run for 30-45 seconds and then it will start, at which point I can start the next 5 rounds (using the next round button), but then the same thing happens after I kill all those monsters. It's making the colosseum speed kill quest impossible and is a pain to farm.
