For 3k I would definitely just have a new ride, and I will never buy anything with the hondamatic in it.

Adjust the cable so that it thinks you are pulling on the lever. There are two adjustment points. You might need to use both of them to get the cable tight enough to not need the lever.

There is an 8mm shaft coming out of the front of the motor, goes through the shift motor gear assembly. Put a 8mm wrench or socket on it and try to shift it up and down.
