I can run the level near the top at around 5.5 lbs with no issue. I set them up to start with about .400 in the front and .375 in the rear between the bowl and float. Holley 1920 Floats. The 1920 carburetor used 2 different floats through the years and neither one is manufactured any more. We do find new floats from time to time so check our 1920 catalog. The 1920 float was a Nitrophyl float and over time these floats will absorb fuel and the only way to test your float is to weigh it.

FYI: Holley recommends a 1/4 turn for each float adjustment. If you're saying you're "way lean" that has little to nothing to do with float level, but rather idle mixture screws. Turn both idle mixture screws all the way in, then back them out 1 1/2 turns as a starting point.

To try to remedy this, I enriched the mixture by backing off the 2 idle mixture screws at the base of the Holley 2 barrel 2210C model carb (original stock). I turned the screws counterclockwise 1.5 - 2.0 full revolutions each. It runs better but still hesitates on hard acceleration.YES holley has a tap for this ,.I have one.
