IHSS providers have the option to complete the Federal Tax Withholding (W-4) and California Tax Withholding (DE-4) forms necessary to deduct federal and state taxes from their wages. If a provider does not submit the withholding forms, federal and state income taxes will not be withheld from their wages. The IHSS program provides services to eligible people over the age of 65, the blind and/or disabled. The goal of the IHSS program is to allow you to live safely in your own home and avoid the need for out of home care. Services almost always need to be provided in your own home.
