You really did a very nice job with that Remington. A couple of years ago found a M12 Winchester for $200 and after finding an original trench gun barrel, I did a similar conversion. While I had a bit of a time locating a heat shield, I see it was nothing compared to what you had to go through to make the handguard for yours.

Norinco 1897's into trench guns. I'm wondering if heat shields made for proper 1897's will fit onto norinco reproductions, and if not, how much modification is needed? In short, no the reproductions nor original heat shields will fit a Norinco 1897 without some modifications.

IAC went through a lot of trouble to get the 97 right. I remember reading that they sent an well known 1897 expert to the the Norinco factory in China. If you have the riot version it should be easy to convert it to a trench. All you need is the heat shield/bayonet lug, that's the hard part. The repop has been discontinued for a while.
