11 posts · Joined 2007. #1 · Sep 3, 2007. Our 9 month old puppy has floppy ear tips. The base is strong and the ears stand up, but the tip bends toward each other about 1" down from the tip. We have stopped posting the ears at 6 months. We tried the breath right strips for a while, but the strips keep falling off.Many reasons: 1. It takes out the work, question and worry of finding a good vet with the knowledge/experience. 2. The breeder most likely has used them before and would not go back if they weren't any good. 3. The breeder will have established a cone/cup and a ear healing protocol post surgery- soooo very important.Cropping is an art. If a vet wants to crop at 3 months you are most likely going to be looking at a terrible crop for as long as you have the dog.
