I have not had similar issues with swapping polarities on other equipment with the function unlocked. If this was not the proper way to tag this bug I apologize, I wasn't sure which tag was the correct fit. Protea is the only Warframe with an innate polarity; all others can have their polarities changed to universal by use of an Aura Forma. So, an idea: when you re-polarise a slot (say change D to a V) you get the option to invest 2 forma (instead of 1) to create a dual polarity that works with both old and new (so D and V mods are reduced, - or = would still increase). Warframes (and weapons) have preset basic polarities for everyone. Prime versions will have more (usually 1 more) and possibly slightly different polarities. You can polarize any slot by using a forma on that slot (you choose the new polarity). This can only be done on a rank 30 frame/weapon, and resets it down to rank 0.

As long as we can use them on other weapons and frames at all there's no reason not to let us polarize. I'm kinda in the same boat with that one too.
