The D3VE's chamber CC is very close to that of the D2VE's chamber (keeps compresison ratio down), but the shape makes for both a better mixture motion and a shorter flame travel. Stuff like that. DOVE-C is the Ford casting number. It can be seen just below the valve cover and above the exhaust ports. There are many numbers: C8VE, D3VE, D0OE for example.

The dove and earlier castings have thermactor boss and roof bumps. starting in 70 the california castings were drilled for emissions reasons. With a flat top piston at 0 deck the typical 97 cc chamber will net close to 10 to 1 static c/r. Domed pistons can bring that to 10.7 to 1 with a 12 cc dome.

They have about 3,000 miles on them. (I'm changing them for a set of original #'s CJ Heads). $700.00 ready to bolt on.

Some bolt on aftermarket heads that are essentially ready to go, may not seem like so much money after all. A typical stock 351 intake port (C9 and DO) with a typical valve job maxes out around 180 cfm (28"). the exhaust around 120 cfm or so.
