Defouler 02 sensor.
Years ago I'd gotten a p0420 code and solved it with two anti-foulers stacked together (& new downstream 02 sensor, likely only necessary because I destroyed the original while taking it out). I also had an exhaust leak from a bad donut seal and only now realize the original p0420 code was likely caused by the exhaust leak.

If it were me and the test came back as okay for the sensor, I would buy a spark plug defouler, install it with the downstream 02 sensor, unhook the battery for a few minutes, and drive around. If the CEL stays off, I would leave it and call it good. Otherwise, you can get a generic plug and play o2 sensor for $30 on eBay or $65 for a Walker ...

Okay so I've had my RS for about 5 months, it's full bolt ons with a catless downpipe and tuned on an accessport by a local tuner. My o2 sensor and o2 sensor heater monitors won't set even after I gave it to a performance shop to figure out for a month, this shop usually works on subies and Evo's with some experience with an RS but no luck setting the monitors.

I would not recommend using a 90° adapter here. As @Paulster2 mentioned in his answer, the O2 sensor needs a steady stream of exhaust gas in order to function as expected.With the 90° elbow, the exhaust gas that runs across the sensor will be slow and haphazard as the elbow will act as a pocket that traps some of the incoming exhaust stream.Its the upstream 02 sensor that controls fuel mixture. ...
