Can't be done anymore bud, it got changed in the last update, I've even tried getting somebody to place a fence kit whilst I place a tent at the same time to no avail. No problem on PC with the "BuildAnywhere" mod. You have to build the gate first, then place the car tent behind it.
There is NO other way to "dismantle" the gate parts. If you want to "destroy" the gate, you need 12 Grenades, or 4 Plastic Explosives. You need just 2 plastic explosives to destroy a gate/fence. Fences come in sections, so from the inside, look at the upper or lower wall/frame with the tool to start dismantling there, then the other half, and finally look at the posts to finish the job.

How do I remove a fence base. The base as in right after you shovel the 2 logs into place. Tried with ever tool to dismantle nothing works please help. I see just two options. First is make it harder to break a gate or a fence. Like it would take 5 axes to break it through. Or second option is make it unbreakable and set a time scale for disappearing. For example if you won't log in in 14 days, your base disappear.
