The push button works when all the doors are unlocked. The manual says the push button should work when the doors are locked and the remote is within 3 feet, but it does not. Hi, took it to the local dealer and they checked it out. They suggested replacing the trunk assembly for $429. I said no and they lowered it to $330. I searched eBay and found a used replacement for $54. pulled the carpet and noticed the trunk button was not making a noise when I pushed it. I say this for future readers, since the 2012 in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia appears to be a Gen8 and has options unlike the NA Gen8. First thing is to check your battery.
